What refurbished means here

  • Cleaned, tested, new battery

We clean every iPod, fit a new battery and test it on our bench before it ships.

  • The original Apple case

Each iPod keeps its original Apple case, so cosmetic wear varies from unit to unit. On the iPod Video 5th Gen and the iPod Classic 6th and 7th Gen you can choose a new aftermarket case in your own colors instead; the insides stay the tested Apple original.

  • Hard drive or flash storage

Keep the original hard drive, or choose flash storage: nothing left to spin, click or crash, longer play on a charge and room for a big library.

Modded iPod Classic and flash iPods
  • Covered for a year

Every iPod carries our 1-year limited warranty from the date of delivery. Changed your mind? Any iPod, custom builds included, can be returned within 30 days of delivery for any reason, complete and in its original packaging.

Before you buy

Does Apple still sell iPods?

No. Apple stopped making every iPod we sell years ago; the last of them, the iPod Classic 7th Gen, was discontinued on September 9, 2014, and Apple no longer repairs them. You can still buy one here, refurbished and tested by us and covered by our 1-year limited warranty.

Where can I buy an iPod today?

Right here. We refurbish and sell iPods from the iPod 3rd Gen to the iPod Classic 7th Gen, plus both iPod Minis, from our shop in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. We ship within the United States only, and orders of $200 or more ship free.

How much does an iPod cost?

Our refurbished iPods start at $87.95: an iPod Mini from $133.95, an iPod Video 5th Gen from $196.95 and an iPod Classic from $231.95. The final price depends on the storage, case and battery you choose, and the builder shows it as you go.

What is the cheapest iPod you sell?

Today it is the iPod 3rd Gen 15GB at $87.95. A cheap iPod here gets the same care as any other: refurbished and tested by us, with the same 1-year limited warranty. The iPod 3rd Gen charges only over FireWire: you need a dock-connector-to-FireWire cable and a FireWire power adapter or a powered FireWire port, as the builder's "You also need" line says.

Is a refurbished iPod the same as a used iPod?

Not quite. A refurbished iPod is a used Apple iPod that has been through our bench: we clean it, fit a new battery, test it and cover it with our 1-year limited warranty. It keeps its original Apple case, so cosmetic wear varies from unit to unit; on the iPod Video 5th Gen and the iPod Classic 6th and 7th Gen you can choose a new case instead.

Which iPod Classic should I buy?

Most people looking for an iPod Classic for sale mean one of three: the iPod Video 5th Gen (2005 to 2007; 30GB, 60GB or 80GB; it plays video), the iPod Classic 6th Gen (2007 to 2009; 80GB, 120GB or 160GB) or the iPod Classic 7th Gen (2009 to 2014; 160GB). Any of them can be built with flash storage instead: up to 1TB on the 60GB and 80GB iPod Video 5th Gen and the iPod Classic 7th Gen, up to 256GB on the 30GB iPod Video 5th Gen, and 128GB on the iPod Classic 6th Gen, a little less than its biggest drive. Not sure which one you have or want? Identify your iPod.

Should I choose a hard drive or flash storage?

The original hard drive costs less. Flash storage costs more, but it has no moving parts to wear out or crash: it is silent, plays longer on a charge and has room for a big library. Only flash builds can take the 2000mAh extended-life battery.

Can I build a custom iPod?

Yes: use the builder at the top of this page. No iPod Classic sold today is brand new (Apple stopped making them in 2014), but you can choose flash storage on every model, and on the iPod Video 5th Gen and the iPod Classic 6th and 7th Gen a new aftermarket case in your own colors and, with flash storage, the 2000mAh extended-life battery. Inside, it stays the tested Apple original.
