Model numbers are printed on the back of the iPod in small type. They do not always settle it: the Classic 6G and 7G both read A1238, and the Mini 1G and 2G both read A1051, which is why this page asks about capacity and thickness instead. Figures are drawn from EveryMac, LowEndMac, Wikipedia and Apple's own historical specifications, cross-checked against our own catalogue.
