iPod Mini 1st/2nd Gen housing replacement
Tools: Phillips #00 screwdriver, Thin plastic pry tool, Spudger, Small snap-ring pliers or a small flat tool, Hair dryer, Masking tape, Tweezers, Anti-static wrist strap or mat, Adhesive for the caps (optional), Isopropyl alcohol and thin double-sided tape
- Lock itUnplug any cable, then slide Hold on and let the screen go blank. Note which side the switch is on: the top cap's slider has to match it.
- Top cap and two screws offGive the glued top cap a brief burst of warm air from a hair dryer on low, aimed at the cap only, then lift it a little at a time round the seam; the plastic is soft, so lift rather than lever. Take out the two Phillips #00 screws under it. Our opening guide shows each move.

How do I choose the right cosmetic part?
This top bezel fits every iPod mini (1st or 2nd Gen, 4GB or 6GB): just confirm you need the top (headphone) end. The bezel is white on every case color, so there is no color to match.
Is this for a full-size hard-drive iPod?
The iPod mini is a separate Apple product line from full-size hard-drive iPods. This is the iPod mini 2nd Generation.
Will this fix internal electronics symptoms?
No. Housing and trim parts are for fit, finish, color, alignment, or visible damage. Diagnose power, storage, audio, screen, and control faults separately.
Will this bezel fit a first-generation iPod mini?
Yes. Both mini generations use the same A1051 case and the same white trim, so the bezel carries over; three parts do not — the click wheel (it plugs into the other generation's board but gives no response), the display and the logic board — keep those with the iPod they came from.
